It Time To Move On......Again!

Ermm... maybe yea and maybe not ?!#^&*?!..... These few months, I could say it's not really a good fortune to me for I'd been shifting works here and there... and guess what, I got an offer yesterday and I could say this is a better one (I hope so... as I was offered better than what I'd asked for...oh well). Look, I'd prepared my 'love letter' something like this... "I have decided that it is time to move on and I have accepted a position elsewhere. This was not an easy decision and took a lot of consideration. However, I am confident that my new role will help me to move towards some of the goals I have for my career." But, I'm still can't really decide... ohhhh man! I need an advise (sudah gontua pun masih confuse ni...)

Mom Is Not Around Home…

…she’s in KL holidaying with Aunts and cousins. They only left yesterday with an evening flight and only be back on next Thursday. Well, Mom deserves to have a holiday since she never does before. Infact, she doesn’t really like to go for holiday especially by flight but Aunt Leviti managed to persuade her to go and bought her a ticket, all meals and accommodation are on my Aunt account… wow! isn’t that nice (kind of you Aunty Leviti). Anyway, Mom sounds so happy when calling home after touched down LCCT Airport. Sempat lagi my Mom reminds me what to do with my niece and nephew, such as to prepare their daily meals, their take away meal to school, to make sure they wash their school shoes, finish their homework and so on (aduiiii…don’t worry Mom, I know what to do… I know how my Mom feels leaving the house that long as she never does before...hehe). Oh man…! I’m now Momie to 6 children, my 3 kids, niece, nephew and my sister as well. Let me see how could I cope this task for a week…*grin* I hope my Mom will enjoy the trip so much and brought lots of goodies back home (that’s what my kids, niece and nephew hope for…hehe)

December or January – One Month…

I was asked by my SSM through SMS while I was on leave (looking after JBoy, monitoring his movement after his operation) last week. Asking me if it is possible for me to go to Sandakan for a month! Oh man! I was shocked (well, I’m in the middle worrying about JBoy that time) and asked her why I should have to be in Sandakan for a month? 2 or 3 days should be fine with me but not that long though…*sigh* She told me that for contingency plan, but still, one month takes very long days for me, thinking about leaving my kids especially. Oh no! it’s really hard for me to consider this time. I suppose to get back to my SSM on last Monday but I just cannot figure out my answer…*sigh* I know that definitely I couldn’t make it in December, it’s Christmas month!. January… also there’s an important date, on 24th, JBoy and Daddy’s birthday. Ohhh… I just couldn’t make up mind…*sigh*

'LIHING' or 'HIING'

Sounds very familiar right... 'lihing' soup is very famous to all MOMMIES after gave birth. I myself consumed 'lihing' all the way during my confinement (to all my 3 kids) and never get bored though... ohhh! I feel that I wanna cook 'ayam kampung' with 'lihing' tonight...taaaaapun!

By the way, I came across about 'LIHING' on last Sunday's paper, reported by Herman, The Flying Dusun, New Sabah Times, October 12, 2008. I think it's good for me to put it in my blog and to share to other people about our local product...*wink*

Sabah’s Very Own Rice Wine

Like most cultures in this world, the local people of Borneo have found ways of transforming their staple-food into alcohol, and none of the worst! In the making of lihing (Kadazan-Penampang for Rice Wine), nothing but ‘pulut’, glutinous rice rich in sugar, and natural yeast, called ‘sasad’ and also made from rice, enter the preparations. Sometimes, lihing is referred to as hiing (certain Kadazan-Dusun languages), and others call it kinomol, sagantang, kinarung, kinopi, linahas, and even tapai. They are all different (but always fermented, rice-based) beverages. Tapai proper is actually wine made from the tuber of the cassava plant, the preferred party drink of the Murut. To add to the confusion, the Iban of Sarawak call their rice wine tuak, which must not be confused with Sabahan talak, which is rice-alcohol (and arak in Malay just means’alcohol’…). Rice wine accompanies all Kadazan-Dusun celebrations and rites, and at a Murut party there will be rows upon rows of jars with fermented cassava tapai. It is an integral part of the lives of Sabah’s ethnic groups, and depending on where you are there are various ways of enjoying this drink: from bamboo or, more contemporary, plastic cups, or through a bamboo straw – and even that one comes in a modern version: a thin plastic hose… If you visit a local home you will most probably get a taste of rice wine. Refusing the first cup is not polite, but subsequent rounds can be skipped. Simply enjoy the round with the locals, sit back and let yourself be entertained…

KIWI, APPLE IN NZ

Have you heard about working in New Zealand for Kiwi or Apple orchards? It isn’t new to you right? Well yea, everybody out there keep talking about going to NZ to work and I heard it’s quite big money though. Even some people with a good job here also resigned and off to NZ… wow! I’m quite impress but it never come across my mine to work in other country so far. Until I personally heard from one of our Kampung people, he just came back from NZ last month. We used to call him by his Kampung name Mambra, he's been jobless for quite awhile and his family persuade him to work for Kiwi or Apple orchards in New Zealand and he got it though. By the way, he was posted in Kiwi orchard and was there for six months. He mentioned that it’s an easy job for people with a good stamina, energetic and fit. You will be asked to work in a group with different peoples from different countries. Wow! isn't that fun, I'm sure you'll never feel homesick. Very interesting pay, the range between from NZ$12 - 18 per hour (RM27 – 36). Just imagine his weekly pay is almost NZ$700… it’s really a big money for those who will be getting little here eh. He also mentioned that you might not getting much for the first month income as to cover up the first entries expenses (Passport, Airfare, Work Permit and First Month Expenses in NZ). However, the second month onwards, he never missed sending money to his wife, the lowest amount is NZ$1500 (R3k+). Mambra likes to work there and will be going back again in March 2009. I heard that some of the Kampung peoples will be joining Mambra to the next trip, even my father and uncles is also considering to go. Hmm... something to consider right *grin* nah… my hubby might consider it... See, how it goes.

‘Adik Saudaraku’

My niece Avrill wrote an essay for JBoy and it's sounds like...

Saya berharap JBoy akan menjadi seorang ‘good boy’.

Ohhh so cute…

Everything Goes Well…

Thanks GOD! everything goes well with Jeremiah’s operation… we really appreciate all the prayers from our family members and friends...

Jeremiah’s operation history…

On 28th September 2008, Sunday, JBoy was admitted at Likas Hospital. He supposed to be there by 10am as advised by Doctor but we purposely came an hour late. Upon arrival the Nurse told us that they thought that we won’t be coming and almost canceled JBoy’s admission, hhmmm…how nice if it’s cancel again, at least we won’t worry that much anymore… but still need to do operation anytime anyway… Well, we feel sorry for our lateness. Oh boy! JBoy look excited for the admission though… Hubby and I, just smile with thousands of worries inside us.

Soon after we ‘checked-in’, JBoy was called for blood test as well as to put the jab on, standby for drip on at midnight when he starts fasting. Guess what? when the Nurse started to take his blood and said, “Jangan takut ah boy, tidak sakit ni, macam kena gigit semut saja” and JBoy answered “ok bah boss” Oh my! I never expect he answered such a way. JBoy really took away my worry though… Alyssa was there too and said to her brother “bah-bah JBoy, sakit tu, nah kau tengok banyak darah kau kena ambil sudah” but well, Jboy just relax and never shows his fears at all…

Only four of them in the room (warded at 6th Floor, Melur 3, Room 7), 3 boys and 1 girl, aged between 3 – 10 and JBoy is the youngest among them. Well, as advised JBoy need to fast from 2.00am until his turn for the operation the next morning starting from 8.00am onwards. However, Jboy last meal taken was at 9.00pm and hoping that he is the first one to go for the operation as he is the youngest and doesn’t have to fast longer time. Oh mann… I just cannot sleep the whole night worrying about the first thing in the morning when JBoy’s woke up of course he will ask for ‘nenen’ (milk) and more foods as knowing him who can eat big quantity of breakfast, ohhh… pity him.

On 29th September 2008, Monday. Ohhh… there you go, JBoy woke up around 8.00am and said “Mummy mau nenen” I told him that he cannot consume anything yet until the operation done, he cried and cried for “nenen”, but soon after that the Nurse came in to put the drip on, luckily, he was fine with that and stop crying. The Nurse advised JBoy saying “Boy jangan minum dan makan dulu ya, tunggu habis operation baru boleh makan apa saja ok” JBoy answered “Ok Nurse”. After awhile with the drip on, JBoy seems uncomfortable with it and asked to take it off. This time Daddy’s turn to comfort JBoy, saying anything that make him forget about foods and drinks, but still he wants to take off the drip. So, I get advised from the Nurse, the Nurse said “ok lah buka dulu nanti pasang balik kalau dia nampak lemah”. After took off the drip, JBoy starts running here and there, on and off asked for water to drink, again, Daddy tried so many things to avoid all that. Phew! what a long wait, the clock shows 12.00 noon but JBoy wasn’t call yet, two of his room mate was back from operation and still asleep. I just cannot stand to wait any longer it almost 15 hours JBoy’s fasting, Hubby and I pity him so much, his lips look so dry and we knew he really need some water… I then asked the Nurse when is JBoy’s turn otherwise he might cannot stand with his hunger. Guess what! The Nurse told us, JBoy is the last one to go, due to the Doctor need to do an emergency operation to someone… oh no!!! I almost cry looking at JBoy situation… really pity him. Fortunately, JBoy has fallen asleep awhile and around 1.30pm only his turn… So, get him changed with the white cloth, then, push him on the stretcher down to 3rd Floor, operation theatre. And either Hubby or I could follow him to the operation theatre. So, JBoy wants Mummy to follow, Ohhh man… I’m so nervous though. Then, on the way to operation room I never had a chance to talk with JBoy course one of the Doctor very child friendly and JBoy was very comfortable with that and answers the Doctor to any questions asked, the Doctor jokes to him as well and JBoy still can laugh. In the operation theatre, my hearts goes even nervous, I’m so weak, my knee shaking and oh… only GOD knows. The Doctors and Nurse talking among themselves while injected the anesthesia jab to JBoy and a few second after that I was asked to go out to the waiting room, the Nurse told me that JBoy already sleep… and I said what! so soon! I don’t even say a word to JBoy. Without realizing it, my tears drop leaving the operation theatre and I heard somebody (Nurse) saying “mama jangan susah hati, pembedahan anak mama akan berjalan lancar, bertenang ya mama. Mama duduk di sini tunggu”. It’s really my first experience seen JBoy got anesthesia jab and fallen asleep immediately… oh no! I just cannot take it…

The operation took 1 hour and 45 minutes. I heard the Nurses saying “Jeremiah, bangun Jeremiah, Jeremiah bangun…” When I heard them waking up JBoy, I straight away go nearer to the operation theatre door but I was stopped by the Nurses and I saw Dr Loriot Kenson came out and said “siapa nama anak mama tu? Jeremiah kan? Don’t worry mama, operation dia ok, sekarang Nurse tengah kasih bangun dia, kalau dia sudah sedar baru boleh bawa dia balik wad” and I said “thank you Doctor” (with a big smile at least my long wait has finally good ending… thanks GOD!). Soon after that, I was called by the Nurse “mama kau kasi bangun si Jeremiah dulu, baru kita bawa dia balik pergi wad”. So, I talk to JBoy “JBoy bangun, kita mau balik sudah, bangun JBoy” JBoy responded “Mummy sejuk... he is shivering. I told the Nurse that JBoy feels cold, then, they put on the warmer machine. After JBoy’s pulse and heart reading done, then we get back to the ward. I could see Hubby had lots of questions in him and had waited patiently outside the operation room. Before he questions me, I told him everything goes well… he smiles and I can see he thanking GOD for everything...

On the way back to the ward, JBoy still weak and asleep, the Doctor advised just let him continue sleeping until he wake up by himself, once he woke up not to give him too much water and foods straights, give him little by little water first and wait for a few minutes then continue, otherwise he will vomit. I just cannot stand sees JBoy in his deep sleep without anything taken since last night. After about 4 hours in his sleep, I woke him up and gave him some water, he drank about 125ml and waited for 10 minutes, he didn’t vomit at all... well, good sign for the next food eh. And ohh… within 4 hours JBoy never stop eating and drinking, it’s pay back time I guess, hehe…

On 30th September 2008, Tuesday. An early Doctor’s round the ward, they mentioned JBoy can be discharged today. I mentioned to JBoy that we can go back home today if he shows that he can sit and walk by himself and wow! he straight away sit by himself and walk around the corridor where Nurses can see him… it’s funny though looking to his action but yes, that’s JBoy, hehe... While waiting to be discharged, JBoy was happy and energetic playing with his car and robot toys given by his Aunty Carolyn.

Alright, it’s time to go JBoy… JBoy said “yeh! yeh! boleh pulang… bye Nurse saya mau pulang sudah” JBoy made the Nurses laugh…

That’s about it… and here's some pictures which can tell the story more...
