KOTA KINABALU: The Thanksgiving Organising Committee led by Monsignor Primus Jouil has drawn up a progaramme to mark the elevation of Bishop Datuk John Lee as the Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Kota Kinabalu. Committee member Sister Anna said the thanksgiving mass will be held on September 1 at the Sacred Heart Cathedral at 10am. "The Archbishop himself will preside over the mass. We expect some 3,000 people from all over Sabah. This will be followed by a lunch reception at the Sacred Heart Parish Centre," she said. She said the mass is to celebrate the erection od the ecclesiastical Province of Kota Kinabalu, the elevation of the Diocese of Kota Kinabalu to an Archdiocese and the appointment of Bishop Lee as Archbishop. In the evening (6.30pm) on the same day, there will be a dinner at Magellan Sutera Hotel. Apostolic Delegate from Bangkok, Archbishop Salvatore Pennacchio, will be the guest of honour. According to Sister Anna, more than 1,000 people are expected to attend the dinner. Archbishop and bishops from Malaysia, Singapore and Negara Brunei will also be present.
